What is wrong with you, Singaporean?

The match is over and we walked away with a silver medal.

Not bad at all for a small country if you asked me. We stood and fought against the host nation. We may not be the champion but we are second, IN THE WORLD. How bad can that be?

What I do not understand is the mentality of some Singaporeans. I was watching the match with some fellow Singaporeans and their reactions totally turned me off.

When we are leading in the match, instead of feeling excited and cheering the girls on, they were saying things like “We’ll only lead for now, later sure lose the round one”.

When we were losing the match, instead of feeling anxious, they were saying “Died! Died! Sure lose liao. Only few more points to go. No need to play liao lar”.

I do know that deep in our heart, we are all secretly thinking that we do not stand a chance against the host nation. But should we give more encouragement verbally? I wonder why they watch the match at all. Did they watch it to give their moral support to Team Singapore or did they watch to see them lose? Or is it simply a good chance for them to sneer at the team, to make sarcastic remarks?

Really! What is wrong with some of us?

This is the first time that we are standing on the world stage after 48 years for a medal, in a Chinese territory no less. We are not in some foreign ‘Ang Moh’ country fighting for the medal.

I do not care about what others say. We have obtained our silver medal. It may not be good enough for some but it is definitely good enough for me.

I’m proud of you, Singapore!

people even bother to submit a blank piece of work. What were you hoping for the teacher to mark? Are you testing to see if the teacher can make an art piece out of the blank assignment?

What is the purpose of homework? What is meant by homework?

I have seen many, many, many times until i have lost count of students coping their friends' work or the standard answers from the answer booklet before the homework submit and i wonder, why bother?

The meaning of homework is for you to do at home. Not in school, but at home. The purpose of homework is meant for ALL of you to go back home to revise what have been taught and to act as a platform for ALL of you to see if you had really understood the facts. If the work is not done by you, there is no meaning in submitting it.

The meaning of homework for the teachers is for us to gauge the students' level of understanding so when we are marking your copied work, who are we supposed to gauge? Your standard or your friend's standard or the book publisher's standard?

To give credit to those who copied, at least they made the effort.

There is another kind of students who simply cannot be bother to even copy the work for submission. They just hand in BLANK piece of work, often accompanied with little drawings of hearts or stars or some idol's names at the side. Honestly! You can draw and write funny things but you cannot even pen one word for the assignment?

If you cannot even make the effort to write one word, why should the teacher even make effort to mark it? I personally feel that it is a waste of red ink to write the word "INCOMPLETE" for blank assignment submitted. Let's not kid ourselves. If they cannot be bother to write one word, why would they be bother to read what has been written?

If you cannot be bother to make effort for your own future, who else would be bother?

I never remember my teachers having to nag at us to study or literally spoon-feeding us with plentiful of notes or worksheets for practise. Yet when presented with notes and worksheets, there are people who cannot even bother to move their finger to for it.

Is there really such a big difference between my generation and your generation or people had simply gotten more lazy to work? This is a question worth pondering over.

If you are graduating and still cannot be bother to work. Then so be it. Even god can only help those who helps themselves. What can mere mortals like us do for you.

Finally, i managed to post a new post after a long, long time. The lack in posting is due to me being too lazy as well as the fact that i have nothing interesting to wirte about recently.

There have been a lot of events and when i'm less tight with my time, i will backdate and post the pictures.

3E1 surprised me totally for today CE lesson. While i know that there are some outgoing individual in the class, i have not expected the quieter ones to be so enthusiastic as well.

All 3 groups impressed me with their creativity in terms of their scripts and acting skills. It was a lot of fun and there were a lot of laughters but i hope at the end of the day, everyone had brought home something that is useful to him or he.

P/S: I'm always amused when students tagged that they have found my blog. I have never make this blog a secret in the first place. That is not to mention the fact that i have given this blog address to all my students. You just have to listen harder to catch certain information =)

Just a Thought

I feel kind of low in mood recently.

Sometimes, you guys do not know how much effort teachers actually put into a lesson.

You may feel that so and so lessons are boring but you can’t deny that they had put in effort. So when you are pointing finger and accusing others of boring lessons, the other four fingers are pointing back right at yourself, asking you what had you done in class.

As teacher, we can understand that students have emotions and have their needs sometimes. But that cannot be an excuse for every emotional outbreak. Maybe you guys had failed to realize that teachers are human creatures who have emotions as well. There are times where we feel like screaming our head off but we do not vent our anger on you. So I ask the same question back to you. Why or rather how can you expect your teacher to attend to your every emotional outcry? We are not your servants (and I don’t think it is right to do that to them too) and we are not your slaves. We are people who came to impart knowledge to all of you and for that we deserve respect.

How can you show your rude behaviour to your teachers just because you are in a bad mood? How can you expect your teachers to forgive you for every time that you spoke to them rudely? Sorry is not a solution to everything. You cannot expect that a single sorry will be able to resolve for your inappropriate actions and words. That is not to mention that some do not even mention the sorry. You just expect us to walk in and had forgiven you.

I do not tolerate this kind of behaviour and I definitely do not forgive people who cannot even apologize for their actions. I will not walk into the class and pretend that nothing had happened. From now onwards, although it hurts me to do this, I will ignore people who cannot even learn how to respect themselves and others.

The Mist

I just caught a pretty good movie last Saturday. By good, I did not mean it to be blockbuster standard. There are no fanciful special effects or any exaggerating explosion. It is however a good horror movie. At least it managed to make me sit on the edge of my seat and I seldom get that scared during a movie! I had never been a fan of Stephen King’s novels. In my teen years, his story are simply too profound for me to understand but as the years piled on and I get more experience from life, I start to appreciate his story just a little bit more.

The plot of the story lays around the question of what can fear change us. The scariest thing in the movie is neither the mist nor the strange creature lurking in it but the fact that no one knows what lies beyond the mist. Questions start popping up. What is present in the mist? What will attack us next? Is anyone coming to help us? Should we leave or stay in the comfort of the hiding place? Till the end, the very thing that everyone is afraid of is the very fact that no one knows anything.

I couldn’t help but question myself. If I’m being place in the same situation, would I choose to stay or leave to find a trace of hope that I might be rescue? I know for sure that I definitely do not have the courage to face the man-eating creature. Yes, I’m a coward when it comes to not death but pain.

All I can say is that the characters had given up hopes too early. Whether you believe in god or not, you should always have hope.

I just hate the sad and depressing ending.

Harry Potter

Ten years, seven books, one long series.

I was a teenager when i first started on Book One and now, i've grown into a mature adult.

The end of Harry Potter has finally arrived. When I finished Book Six about 18 months ago, I was just dying for the last book to be published. However, as I held the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” in my hands on the morning of 21st July, I’d a mixed emotion.

On one hand, I wished to quickly finished the book so that I can know the ending, while on the other hand, I longed for it to last longer as this will be the last time that I would be able to do so. I believed I was not the only one to feel so.

The queue at Popular wasn’t incredibly long but it was never ending. Everywhere that I looked, everyone seem to be carry a book in their hand. I hugged onto my own copy, afraid that it would slip away from my hand when I’m not looking.

I started reading the book, the moment I reached home. Instead of swallowing the words as I usually do, I devoured it slowly. I read and reread the sentences if I have doubts on what it means. It took me a day to finish the book (I'd to finish it by the weekend or when i go back to work on Monday, people will start telling me the story! I learned my mistake when i read my Sixth book 2 months later than everyone..).

Whenever a character dies in the book, I felt my heart wrenching. I know they are not real. But the sadness is still overwhelming. After all, they have been with us for ten years, some of them, my best. The author, however, seems to be on a killing spree. One after one, the character will drop died for one noble rescue or other reason. The body count continues till the very last chapter of the body. There can be no victory if there aren’t any sacrifices isn’t it?

There are so many more things that I wanted to write about but can’t do so without telling the story of the book. Since I hate spoiler, I shall not post any. Talking about spoiler let me sidetrack a bit. I think the media here is damn irritating when they kept posting rumours of the story days before the book was out in the newspapers and even on the news. I know there are rumours of the story going around but have they ever thought that maybe the potter’s fans aren’t check it online because we wanna read it ourselves?

I shall continue when the content of the book is no longer fiercely guarded.

I know i haven't been updating for a long time and this blog is becoming a ghost town! That was mainly because there is nothing much interesting to write about. I mean you would not want to read about how i spent my holiday in school giving extra classes right?

I have not abandon this blog, i just need a topic to write about. Maybe after the upcoming sports meet, my muse will finally arrive.

Class T-shirt and Grades!

My dear 2E5...

I have checked with the school. It seems that your EL grade will affect your class and level position. So if you fail your EL, even if you have a higher percentage, your position will be pushed behind. Hopefully, that answers your question on the so called error of the class position.

Next on agenda, let discuss about our class T-shirt.

Shall we or shall we not have a class T-shirt. The last time i checked, there are 28 of you who wanted to have a class T-shirt. We need an order of at least 30 t-shirts before the printer will print for us. I shall post up the design that i had chosen, maybe on Monday. But before that, i need the class respond and your T-shirt size. The shirt will cost about $13-$14 each. So 2E5, spread the word around and get your classmate to post their name and t-shirt size under the comment and not on the tagboard! I will tabulate the results and if there are less than 30 responses, then we shall not go ahead with the t-shirt thingy.

It has been a tiring week. So stop irritating me with the noise level.

For those who noticed (and care), i have been absent for 2 days last week as i have been falling sick. It is not fun to stay at home and agonised for the whole weekend, while still trying to finish setting the mid-year paper.

Plus, i have not been sleeping enough.

When that happens, i'm really not in the mood to discipline anyone. So yeah, the classes have been pretty noise recently. But milk the situation while you can cos when i'm back from the Good Friday weekend rest.. Heh heh.. Especially 2E5, you better pull your socks up!

I think it is sad to see that there is actually an individual who is so free to check through my blog everyday and use my name on the tagboard.

What does that show?

Is that individual too ashamed of his or her own name and thus has to take on mine (i'm so honoured if that is the case since my name is better than his) or he is just low on his brain cells. Kinda makes you wonder, isn't it? Hmmm..

Anyway, i will take down the comment made by that individual when i'm more free. In the meanwhile, i will just leave it there. At least i know who i'm and am not in the bit ashamed of my own name. Poor him. Let's forgive the poor, lost soul who had lost his own name. He might not have much chance to use my name anymore, so pls help yourself to it for the time being.

Sunday is here again with the blink of an eye. That only means Monday is not far away. Honestly, it is a real bummer. The rainy weather doesn't help much as well, only to stir up the sleep monster within me. I just want to sleep the day away. But, there are still piles of things waiting for me t o mark and lessons to prepare. Most teachers get monday blues and doesn't get cure till Friday is here again. Maybe the Dec holiday is too good. That's why we are not really ready for work.

I'm actually quite glad to see that there are people who dares to use their real name to post comments here. Even if some comments are not really desirable. However, i had deleted that msg away because it contains some form of language which i cannot agree and which i think is not suitable for my lower sec kids. You can try to post again but i will delete it again as i had made it very clear about the rules of posting on my blog site.

There is nothing wrong with expressing one's hatred for another but there is always a better language to say or a better way to say it out. Am i bothered by that one little comment? Maybe. But honest, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. I can't make everyone on this planet to fall in love with me. As long as i felt that i had not done anyone wrong, i can safely say that i had tried my best. I will not try to ask why too for it is a pointless question. Sometimes, we don't need a reason to hate other people, do we?

I still maintain my stand. You can dislike me for all you want but don't dislike the subject because of a person. All of you are my students. Whether you like me or dislike me, i will still do my best to educate everyone of you.

Hello everyone! How's the first few days of school?

Mine was pretty busy. And i meant real busy. I'm so tired that i could practical fall asleep anywhere. Zzzzz...

I'm glad to see new ppl posting in this blog. A big welcome to Nolly. Yes, i remember who you are, the girl sitting at the back of the classroom. However, i believe i had informed everyone that if you wanna post comments, you must leave your name. I will delete all msg who initials or names look alien to me. Plus, i have lower sec students reading my blog, so do not pollute them with unwanted language.

The real work is starting next week, where the teaching begins. Remember to bring the file and money needed for the Chemistry booklet.

Happy new year to everyone! Except that it wasn't really that happy cos school is starting soon. I guess everyone out there who is due to be in school on Wed would probably or am feeling the blues right now.

There have been a few wondering what happened to me after my trip. Well, nothing much except that i suffered from a serious case of food poisoning which pretty much kept me to bed for a week. The ony good thing that i can get out of it is probably the fact that the incident had allowed me to lose a few kilos..

All right, we have got a day left. Let's all make the best out of it.

It is freezing cold here in China. And i really meant freezing..

I have survived the 13 hours wait in HK airport, slept on their benches and finally reach China. I took an internal flight to the most beautiful place (as described in the novel "The Lost Horizon"), Shangri La. But the weather is beyond my expectation. It is -5 degree celcius when i touch down at the airport! And it get worse as night fall approached. It actually went as low as -20 degree celcius. My fingers are literally frozen as i'm typing this. But it is all worth it. The view is simply magnificant. And i get to see snow for the first time and play with it. Brr...

Tomorrow i will be leaving for another county of Yunnan, Lijiang, where it will be less cold. Until i come back, there is no way i can upload any photo so you guys will have to wait.

I'm going off to defroze my poor fingers.

Touchdown in Hong Kong!

I have survived a 3 hours plus flight to Hong Kong where i will have to wait for 13 hours before i can take my next flight that will take me to China. It mean i have to do nothing at the airport (which is really boring) for 13+ hours! Arrgh...

The airport here is nicer than i remember (the last time i came to HK was 10 years ago..) but there isn't much things to do here, except maybe for this free internet access thing which i have 15 minutes.

I will spend the next 14 days away from Singapore, so if you wanna look for me, just leave a msg in my tagboard or wait until i come back. I will check my mails and this blogsite whenever i have the chance to go online.

As for the class outing, i proposed it to be somewhere between 12th Dec to 14th Dec. I will announced the actual date as it comes nearer.

Meanwhile take care, play some games at Neopets (don't forget that there is daily freebies at the snow cave during Dec!) or simply hang out with your friends.

Nightmare!

I had a nightmare the other night.

I dreamt that during the first day of school, i was scolding 2E5 cos they have been badly behaved. Now i have to think twice about asking to be the FT of 2/5. What if my dream comes true?!?!

How has the holiday been so far, my dear students? Tag me to keep me informed ok? !/5 has been real active on my blog. Occassionally i will heard from 3/3 and 4/6. But what had happened to 1/3? Busy going out? Hmmm... As for me, the 'real' holiday is coming soon. Then i won't need to go back to school anymore and i can finally fly to China to enjoy the cold cold weather.

For the Vivocity trip, it will has to be after 9th Dec but before 19th Dec. So i shall let you guys choose the date.But pls choose a weekday cos weekend is crazy at Vivocity.

All right, i shall stop here. Gotta go out soon.

Seeing the msg that my students left in my message board makes me more sad. I had loved to follow my class up to secondary two to help to develop them.

I'm not 100% sure that i can't be the form teacher of 2E5 but the probability of me not being the FT is high. However, i will still be teaching 2E5 for general science.

Whoever will be the FT will need the support of the whole class. So be nice to him or her next year. You are still welcome to come to me for anything even if i'm not the FT.

I will try to speak to Miss Cheah tomorrow. If the school feels that there is a better candidate to be the FT who can help the class to grow in a positive way. I will be glad for the class too. Remember 1E5, don't give up on yourself. Miracle is for us to create and not waiting for it to happen.

Finally! I have settled the tagboard and put up a new message board for everyone to communicate. Pardon for the delay but i have been busy. Busy with the O Level invigilation though.

There isn't much to update though i think i might have an idea that i may not be the form teacher for next year 2E5 =(

To those who hate me from 2E5, it probably will be good news to then. But then again, you might get a fierce teacher.

There must be something really seriously wrong with blogger because for days when i tried to go into my own blog site, it turned out to be a blank page. And since i have been busy for days (keying in comments for your EOY results and other administrative works), i can't be bother to do anything about it till now. Hey, teachers aren't free after the examinations. In fact, that is when we start to get busy.

Anyway, that is not what i wanna blog about. But first let me side-track a bit. I recently went through the comment on this site (i seldom do cos you guys seldom comment. Since now that tagboard seems to be down forever, the comment system might finally be in used!) and realised that there are other students apart from those that i'm teaching who are reading this blog. I'm not intimidated but rather am flattered that there are people who find this blog worth reading. So let me welcome you to the blog. To clarify, there aren't really things that we are forbidden to say (except when it comes to vulgar language. But then again, i dun use them.)

Teachers are emotional creatures as well. The only difference between the teacher and the students would be the age. We are more mature and more experienced about life which is natural. This is a process which all of us go through and one day you would sharing yours to god-knows-who.

Ok, let me get back to the topic. Today i entered the school with a heavy heart because it is the promotional day. That usually means someone will have to retain a year or be transferred to N(A). As much as the teachers would love to help, it is just beyond us. It might not be a bad thing to go to N(A), if the student knows how to use it to his advantage. Like using the extra year to study more. Enough said. There are things that i cannot broadcast here. All will be known soon.

It is taking forever for blogging to load the blogging template. Maybe it is the slow internet connection in school or blogger is really lagging.

Anyway, exams are over and i believe most are celebrating and having a good time. That is until they get their papers back on Mon that they will probably start crying.

I can only say that most of you did badly as in failing or just managed to pass. And don't be too happy if you had only a achieve a just passing grade. I can never comprehend why students are so happy over a passing grade. I would probably be crying if i got that. Passing is not enough. C6 is a pass. But if you get C6 for all your subjects, what would be your L1R5? 6x6= 36.

36 points my friend, is not going to get you into any JC or poly courses. And you didn't fail the exam cos C6 is a pass. Then you will be stuck. You did not fail so you cannot come back to school to repeat and yet you can't get into any school cos you did TOO badly. Then how? Of course, you can choose to repeat as a private candidate but honestly, if you can't pass the exam when you are in school with teachers pushing you. Do you honestly think you would be able to do it at home without anyone to supervise or teach you?

9 out of 10 private candidates that i had seen, either don't turn up for the exams or they will do very badly.

So wake up everyone and stop being so complacent. It is irritating to see people thinking that they are clever when all that they are getting is just a C6 (or worse).

If you can't manage to wake up, then i shall wish you good luck.

P/S: To all my students, we only have next Mon and Tue to check the papers so every second is precious to us. Cos any changes after that will not be count. So don't make me wasting time discipling you guys and get down to work.

Come to think of it, i have not thank those who had given me their wishes and presents on Teacher's Day.

I'm sorry that it had come so late but thank you.

And i really mean it. Many a time, we tend to take so many things for granted that we forgot to thank others. Whether it is a simple greeting for the special occasion or a simple gift, i can tell you it meant a lot to us. It makes us feel that we had not been wasting our efforts and we are been appreciated. That makes us go on.

Yet, at other times, you people have the ability to make our day goes horribly wrong as well.

Recently, i have been thinking that i must be a horrible teacher or i'm too slacking in discipling the class. That must be why they are so noisy during my lesson. Am i my students?

I have been asking 1/5 if they would really prefer me to step into the class with a 'black' face and raise my voice every 5 minutes. Is that really enjoyable? I know there are characters in the class but that does not mean everyone of you has to follow. It is not about what others did but what you have done yourself. Do you have to create noise because the rest are? If everyone follow what they have to do, we will have a good environment for study. Teachers will be able to carry out more interesting teaching techniques with you guys because we do not need to worry that the class will go out of hand.

1E5, we only have about 2 more weeks to exam. Do we really have to make the last few weeks so miserable for everyone? I could have insist everyone to be quiet and make the whole class stand for 2 periods. But would anyone be happy? So ask yourself, have you been respecting your teachers lately?

1/3: I think enough said. The selected few people should know who they are and what they have done.

3/3: Laziness is gonna be the greatest downfall if you allow it to continue.

4/6: you are not letting me down if you failed. You are letting yourself down. As much as all of us wants to play, the exam is still around the corner. It should be more urgent to you cos it is going to show the rest of the world what you have been doing for the past 4 years. You may feel that N Level is too easy for you but remember proud is one of the seven sins and also a key factor in failure for a lot of people. At the end of the day, it is your call.

I'm tired. I think i need a good, long rest.

Anyway, 4N6 has been pretty well for their prelim Chemistry. Keep up the hard work and continue to strive for your 'N' Level. There is only a few weeks left.

On another note, people has been telling me that my ghost stories are very lame =(

Ghost stories are always lame one what. Are those my true stories? Unfortunately, no. Haha.. But i have lots of such stories to share though. That is the advantage of growing old. You get more experiences!

Since it is the chinese 'ghost' month, let get into the mood and have some ghost stories...

Beware! Not for the faint-hearted!!!!

Ghost Story #1

When I was young, I lived in a deserted kampong deep in the jungle. Every night, my mother would ask me not to go home too late as there wouldn't be any transportation after a certain time.One night, before going home, I ta-pao a kueh teow soup for supper. I was late and I waited for the taxi/busbut there was none. I was getting worried as the night was getting darker and darker. So I tried to flag down private vehicles to take me home.There was no one stopping for me, till one motorcyclist took pity on me and stopped to give me a lift. He was a man with a kind face. I accepted his offer and got onto his motorbike.On the way home, we passed by a temple. The temple looked eerily spooky with the dim lights from the candles.At first, the motorcyclist was warm and friendly. When the temple was approaching, the motorcyclist eyes grown bigger and bigger. His kind face turned to a face of anger. He was muttering something loud but was not audible to me. I was so scared that I closed my eyes in order not to see his angry face.Then, the motorcylist stopped in front of the temple and then yelled at me."Your kueh teow soup is so hot!! It is burning my thigh! Can you please move it away???"

Ghost Story #2

When I was young, I have two friends who were very close to each other. They played with each other everyday. It was like, if you see A, you would see B next to him. They were always together.A loved fried eggs. Whenever he went out for lunch or dinner, without fail, he would ask for fried egg on top of his noodles, fried rice, etc.One day, A involved in an accident and died. B was devastated. B went to the cemetery to pray everyday. He would go to the nearest restaurant and ta pao a box of fried rice with an egg on top to be offered to A when he went to pray to him.The next day, he opened the box and there was no egg inside! B was petrified. He thought, must be A who came and took the fried egg away.The same thing happened the next day and the day after that.B was confused. So, one day, he asked the chef to make the same fried rice with a fried egg again. Then, he went to the cemetery to offer it to A. Curious, he opened the box to check for the egg. He was angry to find that, there was no fried egg in the box after all.Feeling that he had been cheated, he went back to the restaurant and demanded to see the Chef. "Where is the fried egg?? I told you there must be a fried egg inside!! You have cheated me for a few days now! Gimme back my money!!"Then, the Chef got really angry and opened the box - the fried egg was inside the box.The Chef said, "Stupid! You open the box upside down. No wonder you cannot see the egg!!"

Ghost Story #3

When I was young, I went to town to work with a group of friends during our summer holidays of two months.One late night, we flagged the last bus down to go home. Being tired, we slept in the bus.It had been awhile that I fell asleep. I was awakened by the chilly wind. I was shocked to find that there was no one in the bus, and I was the last passenger. I looked in front to check out for the driver. But the driver was no where in sight. Yet, the bus was moving.I panicked! I rubbed my eyes to make sure that I was not dreaming. The night was dark and cold. I hysterically jumped out from the bus and tried to run as hard as I could to get away.Then I heard someone yelled at me from behind the bus."Hey! Don't run away! Come over here and help to push the bus!" yelled the bus driver.I saw my other friends helping to push the bus, which broke down while I was asleep.

All right, so it is not exactly ghost stories. But hey! We could all do with a little humour sometimes =)

I was chatting with a fellow teacher in the staffroom today. That teacher was commenting on why students want to make their teachers angry.

Indeed, why?

When you make your teacher angry, the result will usually be a round of scolding, which will then spoilt your mood as well. So why? Why make us poor teachers to constantly feel the anger raising in us? Isn't that a cycle?

I felt that the younger generation lacks in a certain factor that distinct them from students in my era. I had my fun share when i was younger. But never once did i actually give up on my studies. No matter how much i talk in class or how much i daydream, i would never fail to take down things that the teacher wrote on the board. I studied for the tests and exams. However, taht virtue seems to have been lost. For most classes, i see students who can't be bothered what their future will be like or who believe that they can continue their current lifestyle forever.

This makes me wonder.. If you can't be bothered about your own future, why should any other people be bothered about you? God can't help those who don't help themselves.

So do yourself a favour. Try to pick up the books and start studying for that due tests.

Long, long time ago, i seemed to remember celebrating Youth Day as a student. It was nothing much but it was a holiday anywhere and holiday always make the students and teachers happy.

Now, Youth Day still excites me. Well, it's gonna be a long weekend! What is there not to be happy about.

The sec 3s and 4s, make best use of this holiday. You probably won't have too many Youth Day to celebrate.

The sec 1s, congrats from promoting from Children's day to the Youth Day. Since you are a teenager now, that means act more like one.

p/s: i hope the class photo had turned out to be all right.. Keeping the fingers crossed.

The aftermath

Sigh..

I have been harsh in my last post. Now, i'm frustrated about the outcome of the outing. But when weighing between fulfilling the responsibility as a teacher to go for meeting and the outing, i simply can't just drop my duty and go off. The meeting was a last min decision but an important one because the department needs to talk about issues which affect you guys.

Let's talk on Monday about the next date for outing. This time, we will make it happen =)

P/S: Attention 3E3! Remember to bring your chemistry booklet, in case there is chemistry lesson. It is going to be a pretty rush term and if we do not utilise all the time we had, we will probably need many more time after school to make up for it.

The Outing

First, i must announce and apologize to 1E5 that the outing is NOT cancelled but postponed to the september holidays.

There were some problems with the preparation and since i had to go back to school for meeting at 2.30pm, i thought it would be better to postpone it than to carry out an ill-planned outing.

Once again, my apologises.

Next, let me address some issues which had been tagged. First, i felt sorry for the few who had prepared for the outing. And when i say prepared, i don't mean just bring yourself to the outing. That is not prepared. There is nothing difficult to take the bus and come down to Sembawang Park. When i say prepared, i meant people who actually volunteered to help out with the food and drinks. Though in the end, most can't get the food done (which is one reason why i have to postpone the outing), i appreciate the thought of volunteering.

Before, we started to accuse anyone of being irresponsible, let's look at ourselves. When i asked who wants to help out with the food, how many of you actually bother? Most just wanna sit back and relax and enjoy without doing ANYTHING! Now, who is more irresponsible? You want to enjoy something but you do not want to help out. There is no free lunch in the world my friends and neither i nor any of those who volunteered to help out owes anyone anything. We do NOT have to do this. We are doing it for good grace. Shame on those who took these kind thoughts with selfish reasons and starting to point finger or made rude remarks when they knew they couldn't enjoy what they thought they could.

If one really wish to meet the friends so much, one would have make the effort to make the outing happened and not sitting there and waiting for the rest to make it happened.

So what is being irresponsible? Irresponsibility is when i have let you guys go to the park and realised that there is no outing. Responsible is when i had informed you about the cancellation. If you are still unsure about what does the word 'responsiblity' mean, i suggest checking it up in the dictionary. There is no need to say more and neither would i apologise to these people because i do not feel that i had done them wrong. Yes, maybe i had caused some disappointment to some but i seriously do not think anyone deserve the rude comments that i had seen. Like i say, i'm NOT your maid. And if you are civilize enough, you would not swear at your maid too. It just show what kind of person you are.

Enough had been said. You may agree or you may disagree but remember this is only my perspective and you are entitled to yours. However, i do have to remind those who use unwanted language in my blog that i do not allow this. People who enter this blog are civilized and civilized people do not swear. At least not in public.

Heya everyone! How's the holiday so far? Enjoying the 2 weeks of freedom? You should before the holiday expires =)

Regarding the enquires on the IT learning stuffs, i'm sorry to tell you all that i can't help you guys on it cos i have not received any information on what to do.

Adeline, there is nothing official that i want to tell 3E3 about, thus explaining the lack of 3E3 info here. But if you wanna discuss anything, you are free to tag or leave me a comment.

All right, let's write a little about my holiday. It was pretty good, though i still have to be in school on some of the days. Overall, the idea of not waking up at 5.30am is very comfortable and i'm sure getting used to it. At least i still have 2 more weeks of this comfort to enjoy to.

Apart from that i'm not really getting out of my house.. So much so that i feel like i'm becoming a hermit crab!

But nvm, i'm jetting off to the sunny Bali next week! Enough of speaking, i need to start packing. Ditto! Tell me how you have spend your holiday and i may bring back a souvenir.. The keyword is 'may' huh..

I figure i should continue to update this blog to keep the readership going. Since i have no school matters to give out, i should treat this like my daily updating blog.

First, i must praise 4N6. I thought maybe one or even none would turn up for the remedial classes but you guys outlived my expectations. Well done! I must say i'm very console to see that many of you turn up.

Next, my dear 1E5, how is the preparation for the outing coming? I hope it is fine and well.

It is gonna be a long day for me since i will be required to stay till 4 plus. But i'm sure looking forward to my holidays!

1E5 Class Outing

Since there are so many questions on the class outing, i shall address it here.

Date: 23rd June 2006
Time: 10am - 2pm
Venue: Sembawang Park (Meeting at the bus station)

Since it is a class outing, i would prefer you would not bring people from other classes cos we are paying for the food from our class fund. It doesn't seem too fair to the rest if there are people who aren't from 1E5 to use the money. So if you wanna bring your friends along, they will have to pay. Fair?

Next, you guys can used the comment system link at each post instead of the tagboard because the message at the tagboard get erased after a short while. Just click on the link '0 test tube(s) washed' for the popup to appear. The message left on the comment link stays and thus ensure that i get to see every single thing that you guys wrote.

3E3, since you made me angry yesterday so as a compensation, the following people MUST submit their exercise books and files on Monday, 22/5. The deadline was supposed to be TODAY!

The HODs want the books and files for checking. So can you all for once make my life a bit easier by submitting them automatically on Monday? I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

That the end of the long lone list of people who owe me their books. I seem to remember yesterday that some of them promised to give me their books and file today.. I wonder what happened? So much for promises.. Who will ever trust you again next time if you cannot keep to your promises?

A piece of my mind

I must say i'm rather disappointed with 3E3 attitude today. It was rather selfish to just keep on talking and wondering aloud on what time i would end the extra lesson. In fact, it was down right irritating, especially when i'm not a person who could really speak as loud as Mr Yap.

It was bad enough that some students are late and still can causally strode into the class as if they were right to be late. Where is your manners? Have you ever been taught in your entire life that it is only polite to be punctual for a class? Or have you not been taught to apologise when you are late? To the 3 gentleman, i think you need to re-evaluate again where is your moral values.

I know you people do not like to stay back after school. If i could, i wouldn't want to torture myself to do it neither. Especially not on a day when i'm so busy. At least you people could have the luxury to have lunch and rest before you come for my classes but have it ever occur to you that the teacher might not even have her lunch? I'm not asking you people to be grateful and start idolising me. I'm only asking you guys to be more mature and responsible. Behave when there is a need to study, to be serious.

If you still cannot comprehend what i say, try imaging me ignoring you when you really wanna ask me a question. That is exactly how i feel when i'm trying to explain and yet i see people busy reading magazine, talking to people around.

Better still, maybe i should just allow you to do what you want and laugh at you when you fail your chemistry at the end of the year. The idea is just so tempting...

P/S: Paste this entry and copy it on your blog and let the whole entire class knows Miss Ho felt that their attitude in chemistry sucks.

Attention 1E5! Your theory workbook is ready for collection. So please remember to collect the book on Monday.

As for hint on what to study, i will say that if you can do the work in your practical book, you should be quite safe.

I'm sorry to disappoint everyone with this plain, uninteresting blog. But we can all explore together what a blog can actually do for us. If you think you have a way to improve this blog, tag me =)

For those who have not noticed, i have added a chat room and you can access it through the link below the tagboard. I will try to 'park' myself in the chat room from 9pm onwards.

For 3E3, i will be putting up the answer for MYE 2005 papers either on this weekend or by next Tuesday. Do try out the papers on your own before you download the answers. It does you no good as you would never know what you do not understand. For those who needs it, i will post up the answers for MYE 2004 after we have finished going through the papers next Tuesday.

Pardon me for the boring blog name and the boring blog design. As you can see, it is obvious that i'm no wizard in blogging, so let's all just make do with it.
